Olive Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Everlight Digital ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Olive app for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch ("Olive").
Information We Collect
- Account information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address. If you sign in with email/password, we collect your email and a hashed password.
- Household and family data: Tasks, lists, meals, recipes, grocery items, calendar events, cleaning routines, chores, family-member profiles, kid points, rewards, celebrations, and notes you create or import.
- Device data: Device model, iOS version, app version, time zone, and crash logs.
- Usage analytics: Anonymous event data (which screens are used, which features are tapped) via Firebase Analytics. Analytics are disabled in Kid Mode and disabled by default until you accept the prompt.
- AI features: Text you submit to Olive Assistant (quick-add, weekly review, meal AI) is sent to our server, then to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. We do not retain these prompts after the response is returned.
How We Use Information
- To sync your household data across your own devices
- To generate AI responses you request
- To send notifications you have enabled
- To diagnose crashes and improve the app
- To deliver in-app purchases and manage your subscription
How We Share Information
We share data with the following processors only as needed to operate Olive:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics) — backend, sync, analytics
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store, push notifications) — auth and delivery
- Anthropic (Claude API, via our server) — AI responses
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data for advertising. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Sharing and Kid Mode
Olive is a single-person app: only you have an account, and there is no way to add another person as a member or editor of your household. You can share a read-only web link containing your grocery list, planned dinners, or calendar. Anyone holding that link can view a snapshot of what you selected, in a browser, without an account; they cannot change anything. Links expire automatically, at most 30 days after creation. Shared links never include your notes, Kid Mode content, or any email address.
Kid Mode restricts the app to a child-safe view on your own device. Analytics are turned off while Kid Mode is active. Olive does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Children use the parent account; no separate child accounts exist.
Data Retention
Your data is retained while your account is active. Deleted items are kept in Trash for 30 days, then permanently removed. You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account. Account deletion removes your data from Firestore within 30 days; backups are purged within 90 days.
Your Rights
You can access, export, or delete your data from within the app. EU and UK users have additional rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection). California users have rights under CCPA. To exercise these rights contact brendan@everlight-digital.com.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored in iOS Keychain. AI prompts are sent over HTTPS to our server. We follow industry best practices but no system is 100% secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in-app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
